Hollow Knight Switch 2 Edition, Improvements On Other Systems Revealed

Even though Silksong had a great release in September, Team Cherry is still supporting the original Hollow Knight. They’ve announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version will come out in 2026, and all other versions of the game will also receive a performance boost.

Team Cherry plans to update Hollow Knight for the new Nintendo Switch 2, mirroring the improvements made to Silksong. This means players can expect smoother gameplay with higher frame rates, sharper visuals with increased resolutions, and other graphical enhancements. Best of all, if you already own Hollow Knight on Nintendo Switch, you’ll receive the Switch 2 version as a free upgrade.

Hollow Knight is getting a big update on all platforms to improve the game and prepare for the release of the Switch 2. PC players can try out these improvements early through a new beta available on Steam and GOG. This beta specifically adds official support for Steam Deck and ultrawide monitors, including full support for 16:10 and 21:9 screen resolutions.

Team Cherry hasn’t announced exactly when the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Silksong will be available, but they say it’s coming in 2026. They’ve also revealed a new, free expansion called Sea of Sorrow, which is also planned for release in 2026.

Australian indie developer Team Cherry had a fantastic year, culminating in the unexpected September release of Hollow Knight: Silksong after seven years in development. The game was a critical success, winning Best Action Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2025 and being named one of TopMob’s top 10 games of the year.
