Henry Cavill, best known as Superman, is finally taking on the role of the immortal warrior from Highlander in a new film directed by Chad Stahelski. Now that filming has begun, we’ve gotten our first glimpse of the movie, including behind-the-scenes photos. Cavill’s co-star, Siobhán Cullen, has described the action sequences as being similar to John Wick, but with swords, and shared that her character, Brenda, will be different from the version seen in the original 1980s film.
Henry Cavill is well-versed in sword fighting thanks to his role as Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher. He’ll put those skills to use in Highlander, where he’ll play Connor MacLeod, a Scottish warrior who discovers he’s immortal. He must then fight other immortals to survive, ultimately battling to be the last one remaining and win a mysterious reward known as the “Prize.”

In a recent interview with Deadline, director Cullen hinted at the exciting action sequences in the upcoming Highlander reboot, promising something fans will love. He described some of the fight scenes as “insane,” praising the work of action choreographer Chad Stahelski (known for John Wick) and star Henry Cavill.
Working with someone who communicates so effectively through their actions is amazing. It feels like there’s a whole unspoken layer happening alongside our conversations. The subtle details and depth they bring to their characters are fantastic, and I’m learning a lot from them.
Regarding her role in the new Highlander series, actress Katie Cullen will play Brenda Wyatt. In the original 1986 film, Brenda was a forensic scientist and expert in metallurgy who investigated Connor MacLeod and his unusual sword. Cullen has stated that this updated version of the character will be significantly different from the original.
The story finds her going through a challenging period, and a chance encounter with Connor changes everything. As a normal human thrust into a world of immortals, she helps us see this new world through fresh eyes. This experience completely transforms her perspective on life, time, and what she thought was possible.

It remains to be seen how this new version of Brenda will play out, but it seems she and Connor will be two troubled characters who find a connection. Brenda will likely also serve as our guide into the story, helping us understand what’s happening.
The upcoming reboot of Highlander, directed by Chad Stahelski (known for John Wick), boasts a star-studded cast. Henry Cavill will share the screen with familiar faces like Russell Crowe, his Man of Steel co-star, who will take on the mentor role originally played by Sean Connery. Jeremy Irons, from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, also joins the cast, and Dave Bautista (of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) will play the villain, The Kurgan. The film, written by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch, is set to be released by Amazon MGM Studios, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.
