It’s been almost two years since Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele first announced their new horror game, OD. Kojima has been busy completing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but recently, Kojima Productions showed off a new glimpse of OD at their Beyond the Strand event. The preview suggests Kojima is aiming for a similar unsettling atmosphere to P.T., the demo for his unreleased Silent Hills project.
The latest video cuts out some of the introductory story, making it hard to follow what’s going on. While Stephen King’s It star Sophia Lillis is the main character, you mostly experience the game through the eyes of whoever you’re playing as. Early in the video, her character finds a mysterious card slipped under the door with strange directions on it.
After Lillis’ character lights some candles, the scene quickly becomes unsettling. When someone-or something-comes up behind her, she’s paralyzed with fear and unable to escape before it touches her.
Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer will join Lillis as main cast members, though their roles are still a secret. Kojima Productions has revealed the game and its incredibly realistic characters were built using the Unreal Engine.
We don’t know when OD will be released, but Xbox Game Studios will publish it. A PlayStation 5 version hasn’t been confirmed yet, though. Hideki Kamiya, who directed Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry, recently said he hoped Kojima would create a game similar to P.T., and it seems that wish is coming true.
