Okay, so Vince Gilligan, the genius behind Breaking Bad, has a new show called Pluribus, and it’s already blowing my mind! It’s full of these little details you almost miss, and fans have already spotted something seriously creepy that makes you wonder what’s really going on with the whole ‘hive mind’ concept in the show. It’s got me hooked!
Apple TV has produced many critically acclaimed shows, so it’s fitting that the thought-provoking series Pluribus is available there. The show has a similar unsettling vibe to Severance, creating a strange and disorienting world – even before a mysterious virus appears – and features elaborate, detailed conversations.
The new TV show follows author Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), who is one of twelve people unaffected by an alien virus. This virus is turning everyone else into a single, unified consciousness – a bit like a hive mind. It’s similar to the plot of ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers,’ but with a friendly alien force instead of a threatening one.
The show is already a hit with critics, earning a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s been well-received by audiences too, with an 85% approval rating. It’s also generating a lot of conversation! Be careful, though – the following contains spoilers!
Hidden detail in Pluribus hints at disaster for the hive mind
A keen-eyed viewer noticed something unsettling: the plane registration numbers shown in the program match those of planes that were actually involved in real-life crashes. Interestingly, the online database used to uncover this information is named Carol – the same name as the show’s main character.

Is it just a random occurrence? Maybe, but many fans believe it’s a hint of things to come, suggesting the collective intelligence isn’t perfect – and that could be really bad news for humanity.
A Reddit user who describes themself as an “aviation nerd” noticed something unusual: the registration numbers for both planes match planes that crashed in very similar circumstances back in January 2001. They weren’t sure if anyone else had picked up on this detail.
“N46628 (Cessna on the roof) is registered to a plane that crashed on January 12th, 2001.
“N1703D (C-130 flown by Zosia) is registered to a plane that crashed on January 6th, 2001.
Both accidents happened because of mistakes made by the pilots. In each case, the planes hit trees and were completely destroyed. Icy conditions and fog were factors in both crashes, which occurred approximately 10 nautical miles from where the pilots intended to land.
“In one accident, the pilot survived; in the other, they did not.”

As a big fan, I was reading about this, and someone pointed out that Vince is incredibly detail-oriented. So, it seems really unlikely he’d accidentally include those plane registration numbers if they didn’t mean something. I honestly can’t believe these connections are just coincidences – it feels like there’s a deliberate reason behind it all.
Interestingly, the database where you can find this information – the NTSB’s search tool – is called CAROL.
One fan commented that the discovery was “pretty interesting,” especially the website’s name, and praised the information shared. Another fan simply exclaimed, “Vince is back!”
Someone else commented that this discovery reminded them of the episode titles from Season 2 of Breaking Bad, adding that they’d have to wait and see what it all meant.
One person suggested that this might be a hint that the Hive isn’t perfect or invulnerable, since it’s ultimately built on human nature.
Intense feelings disrupt the hive mind, and it’s programmed to avoid harming or upsetting those with immunity. Given how delicate everything is, even a small error could lead to total collapse.
Interestingly, the airline Carol travels on is Wayfarer, which is also the same airline featured in the plane crash scene from Breaking Bad.
