Growing up as a huge fan of The Goonies, I knew I’d want the new LEGO Ideas set the moment I saw it. But even knowing that, I’m still amazed by how much detail and how many references to the movie it includes! I spent my childhood imagining joining Mikey and his friends as they dodged traps and searched for One-Eyed Willy’s treasure to save their neighborhood. Seeing pictures of this LEGO set brings back so many fantastic memories and quotes from the film.

First, Let’s Talk About The Minifigs
Look, I don’t need a LEGO set overflowing with little figures to be impressed. It’s all about what makes sense for the scene they’re building. The Twilight set looked fantastic, but I wished they’d included all the Cullen family members. But sometimes, less is more – the Home Alone set nailed it with just a few figures. When it comes to The Goonies, though, you really need the whole gang – all the kids, plus the Fratelli family. Twelve minifigs feels exactly right, especially since it includes One-Eyed Willy! And it’s the thoughtful touches that really make it – Andy in Troy’s sweater, Data with his candles and dynamite, Mikey clutching his treasure map, and Brand rocking that amazing headband and shorts-over-sweatpants combo. It’s those details that elevate this set.

The Way The Set Pays Tribute To Scenes From The Movie
As a huge fan, I’m completely blown away by this set! It’s built like Willy’s amazing pirate ship, which is awesome on its own, but it’s so much more than just a replica of the one from the movie’s ending. They’ve packed the inside with rooms that recreate scenes from all over the film! It’s not just about the ship itself; you can actually see details like the piano with the bones that Andy plays, and even the spot where Data falls through the floor and gets rescued by his Pinchers! They even included a piece of the slide leading to the cave where the ship is hidden, and of course, Willy’s treasure room. It’s a fantastic tribute to the whole movie!

The Goonies Lego Set Price And Release Date
The LEGO Ideas Goonies set isn’t a budget buy, but it’s also not the most expensive LEGO set available. It contains 2,912 pieces and will cost $329.99 when it’s released on November 4th. While that’s less than half the price of the Death Star set, it’s still a significant investment. However, the set is packed with detail and has a lot to offer, making it a great display piece for fans of the movie. If you’re a Goonies enthusiast with enough space and money, this set is worth considering.
If you’re in the mood to watch The Goonies again, the 1985 classic is now available on Netflix.
