As a gamer, let me share my experience that echoes Julia Roberts‘ when working with an actor like Nick Nolte. We were both cast in the same video game production, I Love Trouble, directed by Charles Shyer. However, unlike the thrilling escapades I expected from this collaboration, it was anything but smooth sailing with him. Much like his iconic roles in Star Wars’ The Mandalorian and Marvel’s The Incredible Hulk, our partnership proved to be more challenging than anticipated.
In an interview with The New York Times (via Variety), Roberta didn’t hold back her criticism of the actor, expressing that he was such a negative experience for her. Although she acknowledged Nolte’s ability to be charming at times, she also pointed out instances when he was “downright revolting.” Interestingly, they both managed to annoy each other mutually, suggesting there may not have been much warmth between them.
Since our first encounter, we’ve had a playful rivalry that occasionally leads to us annoying each other. It’s almost instinctual. Despite his ability to be utterly charming and kind, there’s an unsavory side to him too. I must warn you, he may not appreciate this, but it seems like he intentionally tries to push people away. He’s quite the character!
In an interview with Insider, Nolte acknowledged that some of the on-set conflict during the filming of “I Love Trouble” was his responsibility. Yet, he clarified that despite not reaching out to Roberts following the movie’s release, there is no longer any animosity between them.
I haven’t contacted her yet, but the issue between us has been resolved. Frankly, our past experiences were quite absurd. To some extent, I was to blame, and she was too. You might recall that Julia got married at the start of the movie, and I must admit I didn’t handle the situation very well.
The movie titled “I Love Trouble” didn’t fare well at the box office. Costing approximately $45 million to produce (according to IMDb), it only managed to earn $30 million (as reported by Box Office Mojo).
