Okay, so I just learned something cool! Sean Penn and Jack Nicholson actually worked together in a couple of movies – *The Crossing Guard* and *The Pledge*. But get this – Sean Penn also got to introduce *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest*, which, of course, stars Jack Nicholson, at the Lumiere Film Festival. That’s pretty awesome!
Penn remembered being deeply impressed by seeing *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest* in cinemas. He especially valued the opportunity to act with Jack Nicholson, whom he admired greatly, on two different occasions. Penn described Nicholson as a supportive and inspiring presence during their collaborations, like ‘an angel on his shoulder’.
I’ll never forget the first time I watched Jack Nicholson in Miloš Forman’s *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest* – it was a truly magical cinematic experience.
I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with Jack twice, on both *The Pledge* and *Crossing Guard*. He was a wonderful presence and a guiding force, and even now, it’s hard to believe I shared the screen with McMurphy – Jack Nicholson’s character from *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest*.
Sean Penn shared a memory of seeing *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest* for the first time, at a small beachside theater in Los Angeles. He reminisced about how going to the movies back then felt like a special occasion, and how audiences truly immersed themselves in the film.
Even though things are different now, he thinks *One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest* remains a powerful and relevant story that would resonate with young people today, even those with short attention spans.
