He-Man … works in an office?
The new Masters of the Universe movie starts with a strange idea. It’s the first attempt to bring the popular toy line and cartoon to life with real actors since the poorly received Dolph Lundgren film in 1987. This time around, He-Man – known as Adam Glenn (played by Noah Galitzine) – is living on Earth and working a boring office job. He’s surprisingly into “nerd stuff” – can you believe it? – but eventually he goes back to Eternia, the magical world where all the classic Masters of the Universe stories take place.
Most of the characters maintain their classic appearances, particularly Jared Leto as Skeletor. However, for much of the trailer, even after returning to Eternia, Galitzine’s character is seen wearing a collared shirt and slacks – it’s like he’s ready to shop at Banana Republic!
Anyway, let’s take a look at the full trailer.
There’s a poster for the film as well.

I have always wanted to witness how He became He-Man.
Anyway, here is the film’s official synopsis:
Okay, so I’m a huge Masters of the Universe fan, and I just saw the new movie! Director Travis Knight really did a great job bringing this classic story to life. It’s been 15 years since Prince Adam and his family were separated, and the Sword of Power leads him back to Eternia, only to find it’s been totally taken over by the evil Skeletor. It’s up to Adam, with help from his friends Teela and Man-At-Arms, to embrace his fate and become He-Man to save everyone. It’s an awesome adventure!
Amazon is promoting this new movie as a follow-up to the huge success of Barbie, which cleverly played with the idea of being based on a toy. Barbie’s approach worked well, but the question now is whether it will work for He-Man. Do modern kids want to see superhero movies based on toys from the 1980s, especially ones that seem a bit… ordinary? Only time will tell!
Masters of the Universe is scheduled to open in theaters on June 5.
15 Most Random Actors Who Have Somehow Gotten Their Own Action Figures

Kenneth Branagh (Wild Wild West)
It’s rare for actors playing knights to get their own action figures, but Kenneth Branagh is an exception! He received a figure as part of the toy line for the movie Wild Wild West, where he played the villain Dr. Loveless. The character uses a steam-powered wheelchair – or sometimes spider-like legs – to move around. While the figure isn’t a perfect likeness, it does capture the character’s eccentric costume and makeup from the film.

Bradley Cooper (The A-Team)

Jane Curtain (Coneheads)
Believe it or not, there’s a line of action figures based on the Coneheads movie, which came out a long time after the original TV show! Even Jane Curtin, a famous cast member from Saturday Night Live, got two figures made of her character: one in her alien costume and another in everyday clothes. Apparently, these toys were a huge hit in France, the Coneheads’ fictional home planet.

Paul Giamatti (Planet of the Apes)
In the toy industry, “toyetic” describes characters with visually striking designs that easily translate into action figures. Even poorly received movies like Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes reboot can be “toyetic.” The movie spawned a line of action figures featuring not just the main characters, but also actors like Mark Wahlberg, Estella Warren, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tim Roth. Surprisingly, the line even included a figure of Paul Giamatti, who played the villainous slave trader orangutan, Limbo – meaning children could actually buy action figures of a slave trader in 2001.

Hugh Grant (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves)
Growing up, I always wished there was an action figure of Hugh Grant like the one from the movie Nine Months. It finally happened in 2023, with a figure based on his role in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. While the figure looks pretty accurate, Grant wasn’t a fan. He jokingly complained on The Late Late Show that it made him appear to be wearing a “big blue diaper” and even suggested they burn it! That’s a harsh critique.

Werner Herzog (The Mandalorian)
I actually have this Werner Herzog action figure! I got it on sale a few years ago and couldn’t resist—the idea of owning a little Herzog, based on his appearance in the first season of The Mandalorian, was too good to pass up. Now it sits on my shelf, looking down on my Spider-Man toys. I imagine it saying something like, “Spider-Man, you know nothing of the chaos hidden beneath the surface of the world. There’s no power, no responsibility, just the pain of existence, endlessly echoing.”

Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park)
As a huge film fan, I remember when Jurassic Park came out – it wasn’t just a blockbuster movie, it sparked a dinosaur toy craze that’s barely stopped since! The toys have gotten incredibly detailed over the years, but the original ones from 1993? Let’s just say they weren’t exactly lifelike. I always found it hilarious how the figure of Wayne Knight (Newman from Seinfeld!) was portrayed – this stern-looking guy in a green turtleneck, sunglasses, and a gun holster! It was based on that amazing scene where Dennis Nedry, fed up with everything, grabbed his holster and started shooting raptors. Seriously, that sequence was unforgettable!

Barry Pepper (Battlefield Earth)
Believe it or not, Battlefield Earth actually had action figures made of its characters! It makes sense, though – kids love the memorable characters from the movie, like the villainous alien leaders Terl and Ker. And every hero needs a villain to fight, so they created an action figure of Barry Pepper’s character, Johnny Goodboy Tyler, complete with long, flowing plastic hair, ready to save Earth.

Jean Reno (Godzilla)
The 1998 Godzilla movie didn’t have many huge stars – unless you consider Godzilla himself a star, which I do! Because of that, the movie’s toy line featured figures of lesser-known actors like Matthew Broderick, Hank Azaria, and Jean Reno, who probably wouldn’t have gotten action figures otherwise. Looking at this figure, would you even recognize it as Jean Reno from that time? It really captures his look from the Godzilla movie.

Denise Richards (Starship Troopers)
I don’t like to criticize other parents, but if my kids asked to watch Starship Troopers – a very violent and mature movie – I’d immediately say no. It’s just not suitable for children.
But surprisingly, the Galoob company actually made Starship Troopers toys! This includes a figure of Denise Richards’ character, Carmen Ibanez. And yes, there’s also a Jake Busey action figure available, if you were wondering.

Adam Sandler (Little Nicky)
Adam Sandler is a major movie star known for creating much of his own content. Unlike many actors who appear in lots of superhero or action films – the source of most action figures – Sandler rarely participates in those genres. However, in the early 2000s, McFarlane Toys was so enthusiastic about partnering with Sandler that they made several toys based on his critically unsuccessful film, Little Nicky. The line included figures of Kevin Nealon, Robert Smigel, and two versions of Sandler himself. The most memorable figure is arguably this one of Nicky, posed lying on a radiator – perfect for imaginative naptime scenarios!

Talia Shire (Rocky)
Jakks Pacific created a surprisingly large collection of toys based on the Rocky movies. The line features characters from all six films, including some unexpected choices like commentator Brent Musburger, boxer Mike Tyson, and even a toy representing a side of beef called “The Meat.” Of course, Talia Shire’s character, Adrian, was also included – she’s essential to any complete Rocky collection. But it’s odd how fierce her action figure looks! Adrian is typically a very gentle and quiet character, especially in the first movie, yet the toy makes her appear ready to fight Apollo Creed herself.

Paul Sorvino (Dick Tracy)
The action figures from the Dick Tracy movie are famous for featuring so many recognizable character actors. While Warren Beatty as Dick Tracy and Al Pacino as Big Boy were the main figures, the line also included characters based on actors like William Forsythe (Flattop), R.G. Armstrong (Pruneface), Seymour Cassel (Sam Catchem), Dustin Hoffman (Mumbles), and Paul Sorvino (Lips Manlis). As a nod to his character’s fate in the film, the Paul Sorvino figure even came with a pair of cement shoes!

Christopher Walken (Batman Returns)
It’s not unusual for characters from superhero movies to get action figures, but it’s still surprising to see one made of Christopher Walken’s character, Max Shreck, from Batman Returns. Honestly, what would really make me happy is an action figure of his character from The Country Bears.

Marlon Wayans (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra)
The G.I. Joe films started with toys, so it’s not surprising that they then created new toys based on the movies themselves. Several actors from the films got their own action figures, including Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Eccleston, and Marlon Wayans, who played the character Ripcord. Wayans’ figure is one of the better ones, but Bruce Willis’ G.I. Joe action figure is particularly striking – it strongly resembles his character John McClane from the later Die Hard movies, which is quite funny.
