Based on the popular 1960s manga series, the film is a classic that helped revolutionize animation in both Japan and the United States. Now, this beloved movie is being re-released on Blu-ray with improved video quality and extra features. This new steelbook edition of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro is a nice collectible, but it’s not the only way to own the film. A 4K version was released in 2021 and is currently available on Amazon for $28. While you won’t get the steelbook case, the 4K version includes a high-definition picture, a reversible cover, a slipcover, and all the same bonus features.

Based on the famous manga by Kazuhiko Katō, *The Castle of Cagliostro* stars the master thief Lupin III and his sidekick Daisuke Jigen as they investigate the origin of fake money after a robbery. They quickly become involved in a plot to save a woman and uncover a hidden treasure. Though released nearly 50 years ago, the film remains visually impressive with its unique animation, exciting action, and artistic style – qualities that would later define Miyazaki’s work at Studio Ghibli. Widely considered a classic adventure film, *The Castle of Cagliostro* has inspired many filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg and John Lasseter of Pixar.
