‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Sequel Series ‘The Testaments’ Casts Mattea Conforti

The sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” titled “The Testaments,” is expanding its ensemble, with Mattea Conforti joining the Hulu production as a main cast member, according to recent reports by EbMaster.

The show, which shares its title with Margaret Atwood’s novel, unfolds fifteen years after the occurrences depicted in “The Handmaid’s Tale.” Conforti has been added to the ensemble that includes Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Ann Dowd, and Rowan Blanchard who were previously announced.

According to the official account, the storyline revolves around a fresh group of young ladies residing in Gilead. Born and raised within this society, they have no personal recollections of the world beyond before their conversion into this lifestyle. As they confront the possibility of being wed off and living a life subservient to others, they must seek out allies – some old, some new – to aid them in their struggle for liberty and a better life.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Conforti will be portraying Becka, a character born into simple beginnings, yet finds herself amidst Gilead’s upper crust at school. As she matures and grapples with her own identity, she begins to ponder whether the life she’s being prepared for is truly what she desires.

Previously, Conforti graced the screens in movies like “The Many Saints of Newark,” “Frozen II,” “The Viper Club,” and “3 Generations.” She has also been a leading actress on television series such as “NOS4A2” on AMC and “Power” on Starz.

In my opinion, much like the gripping series “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the anticipated sequel, “The Testaments,” shares the same creative mind – Bruce Miller. He not only pens the story but also oversees its direction as showrunner. Warren Littlefield of The Littlefield Company and Steve Stark of Toluca Pictures join him as executive producers. Interestingly, Mike Baker will helm the first three episodes and also takes on an executive producer role. MGM Television is the studio behind this intriguing production.
