Steve Downes, who famously voices Master Chief in the Halo games, hinted that a major announcement is on the way. This comes shortly after Microsoft announced they’ll be sharing big Halo news later this month.
I was so excited to see a picture from Collect-A-Con of Shannon Downes wearing an “I Love Cortana” shirt! He mentioned that he and Jen Taylor, who *is* the voice of Cortana, are really looking forward to the Halo World Championships later this month. And get this – he hinted at some big news coming soon, saying “BIG NEWS A’COMIN!!” I can’t wait to find out what it is!
We were cheering on Jen Taylor in Chicago this weekend! Jen and I are excited to see everyone at the Halo World Championships in Seattle on October 24th and 25th! Stay tuned for some big news coming soon! #halo #haloworldchampionships #hcs #seattle #stevedownes #masterchief #jentaylor

Microsoft recently confirmed they will be sharing details about a new project at the Halo World Championships this October, a plan they initially announced back in June.
Halo Studios announced that the team will be presenting on the main stage to discuss their work. They’ve also scheduled a detailed panel discussion that they promise will be very informative.
Both of these things are happening on Friday, October 24th. Microsoft didn’t offer any further details, and hasn’t said whether the announcement will be about new games or something different.
Microsoft has announced they’re developing several new Halo games, and rumors suggest one of these projects is a complete remake of the very first Halo, planned for release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console.
In 2026, Xbox and the Halo franchise will celebrate their 25th anniversary. According to Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming, we might see a new Halo game released next year, along with fresh installments in the Fable and Gears of War series.
During the 2024 Halo World Championships, Microsoft unveiled the “A New Dawn” trailer, giving fans a first look at upcoming Halo projects being developed in Unreal Engine, like Project Foundry. They also announced that 343 Industries would now be known as Halo Studios.
Halo Infinite, released in 2021, is the newest core game in the Halo series. Since then, Microsoft has undergone significant changes, bringing in new leaders and planning to use different technology for upcoming games. The company admits that Halo Infinite didn’t quite live up to expectations. Xbox head Matt Booty described the game’s launch as a near success that ultimately stumbled.
According to studio head Pierre Hintze, Halo Infinite represents the end of an era for how the Halo games were traditionally made. They are now fundamentally changing their approach to game development.
