Halo On PS5 Is A “Win For The Future Of Halo,” Dev Says

An Xbox employee believes bringing Halo to PlayStation 5 is a positive step for the franchise. Josh Stein, a senior social marketing manager, shared this sentiment after the announcement that Halo: Combat Evolved would be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, adding that “More Spartans means more fun.”

Bringing Halo to PlayStation will create larger player communities and show even more support for the game, benefiting both longtime fans and newcomers. “This is a great step forward for Halo’s future,” said Stein, adding green and blue heart emojis to represent Xbox and PlayStation.

The release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PlayStation is causing quite a stir. While some of the original developers are supportive, others have expressed concerns about the remake. The reaction has even reached the White House, which shared a humorous meme featuring Donald Trump as Master Chief. Trump playfully claimed credit for ending the long-standing rivalry between console brands, now that Halo is available on PlayStation.

Halo: Combat Evolved is getting a visual overhaul with updated graphics, plus new story missions that take place before the original game. Players will have access to even more weapons and can now sprint. While it won’t have traditional competitive multiplayer, you can play the campaign with a friend in co-op mode. The video above shows a side-by-side comparison of the remake and the original game.

I’m so hyped for Halo: Campaign Evolved! They haven’t said how much it’s going to cost yet, but the cool thing is it’s launching on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5 all at the same time – no waiting for it to come to one platform before another. Plus, if you have Xbox Game Pass, you can play it right away when it comes out, which is awesome!

Besides continuing to develop Halo: Campaign Evolved, Microsoft is reportedly creating a new Halo game that will be a live-service experience. Microsoft has also stated that Halo games will be released on PlayStation 5 in the future. Both Halo: Campaign Evolved and any upcoming Halo titles will be built using Unreal Engine 5.

In 2026, the Halo series will celebrate its 25th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion and the original release of Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft is holding the very first Halo Fest.
