Halo Infinite To Receive Its Last Major Update This Month

For the past four years, Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) has delighted players around the globe with Halo Infinite. This game is the third major installment in the popular Halo series.

While things haven’t always been smooth, Halo Infinite faced a setback in 2023 when plans for a story-driven multiplayer mode—following the characters of Commander Laurette Agryna, Hieu Dinh, and Sigrid Eklund as they fought the Banished AI Iratus—were cancelled. This storyline eventually concluded in June 2025 through a narrative released on the Halo Waypoint website.

Even though the game had its problems, I kept playing Infinite because they really supported it after launch! The updates and especially the multiplayer events, called Operations, were awesome. They kept things fresh by adding both new weapons and vehicles, but also bringing back some old favorites – it was great seeing those classic tools again!

  • The Bandit DMR
  • The MA5K Avenger
  • The Fuel Rod SPNKr
  • The Vestige Carbine
  • The Mutilator double-barrel gravity hammer shotgun
  • Halo: Reach‘s Falcon

Like all good things, support for Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is coming to a close. Halo Studios is now focusing on future Halo games, and the final major update for Infinite, called Operation: Infinite, is on its way.

The End of Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer

On November 7th, Halo Studios announced that Halo Infinite will receive its final major update, called Operation: Infinite, on November 18th. The announcement was made during a community livestream featuring John Junyszek (Senior Community Manager), Brian Jarrard (Community Director), and Tashi (Competitive Engagement Director).

Many longtime fans of the Halo series weren’t surprised by this news. Previous Halo multiplayer games typically stopped receiving significant updates after about three years, and the Halo World Championship 2025 signaled the official end of competitive play for Halo Infinite.

Halo Studios recently revealed the next installment in the Halo series: Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, scheduled for release in 2026. The studio also announced a shift in focus, with increased investment in multiple future Halo titles. According to studio representatives, Halo: Campaign Evolved will be their primary focus going forward, and the upcoming update to Halo Infinite will be their last major content release.

To keep its players engaged, Halo Studios is adding several updates to Infinite. These include double XP for Career Rank and SP, a new 100-tier Operation Pass with rewards, eight new armor sets to earn through gameplay, fresh Ranked Seasons, and over 200 new armor sets and customization items available in the Exchange store.

The free and premium Operation Passes, both offering access to the 100-tier rewards, will no longer expire. Players will be able to unlock new armor for their Spartans with either pass, including:

  • Serpin (inspired by the armor worn by Halo 2‘s Honor Guard Elites)
  • Seeker (a refined version of Halo 5: Guardians‘ much-lambasted Seeker armor)
  • Adamant
  • Artificer
  • Seedwarden
  • Kobold
  • Phoenix
  • First Vanguard

If you buy the Premium Pass, you’ll immediately get a cool new weapon – the Charge Quill Shock Rifle – along with a special coating to make it look even better when you’re taking down opponents.
