28 Years Later
The latest addition to our list is a 2025 release – the follow-up to the acclaimed horror movies 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. It’s now available on Netflix. The film once again features Danny Boyle and Alex Garland guiding us through a world after a global disaster, focusing on a person who escaped a deadly virus on a remote island, only to venture onto the mainland. I just finished watching this really intense R-rated movie about Dr. Rose Cotter. It starts with her seeing something completely disturbing with one of her patients – a truly traumatic event. The movie follows her as she’s forced to confront some difficult things from her past if she wants to survive and escape this new, horrifying reality she’s stuck in.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
A truly iconic horror film that everyone knows, but it’s still perfect to watch around Halloween. This movie, made over 50 years ago, remains incredibly effective. It follows five friends traveling to rural Texas to visit a gravesite. During their trip, they stumble upon what appears to be an deserted house, concealing unsettling secrets. Within this terrifying cabin dwells a sinister presence wielding a chainsaw.
