I’m thrilled to share the news that my beloved game developers at Supergiant Games and Nintendo have revealed the release date for Hades II! This epic sequel will be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, and the newly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 on September 25. Can’t wait to dive back into the captivating world of Hades once more!
Since 2024, the game has been available for early access on PC. With the upcoming update, slated post-July’s Hades II Update 11 – the last planned early access update – it will officially be released in its complete form.
In the sequel titled “Hades II,” players step into the shoes of the timeless Underworld’s princess, engaging in combat against Cronus, the time-controlling Titan from Greek mythology. This game allows for interaction and mingling with gods and other immortals modeled after ancient Greek mythology.
The supergiant marked the announcement with a launch trailer for version 1.0, which was creatively crafted by The Line Art Team in a stylish 2D animation format.
The upcoming game titled Hades II is set to be a timed exclusive for both Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 consoles, with the duration of this exclusivity period yet to be disclosed. As per the teaser trailer, the enhanced version of Switch 2 promises a smoother gaming experience, aiming for a frame rate of 120fps on compatible 1080p TVs, while it will run at 1080p/60fps in handheld mode. Moreover, the launch post indicates that cross-save functionality will be available between Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC versions of the game.
Significantly, Hades II is set to launch digitally on PC and Nintendo Switch (or Switch 2) by an announced date. However, for those who prefer physical copies, they can purchase them starting November 20th, at a cost of $49.99. In contrast, the digital version will be more affordable, priced at $29.99.
The game called Hades II is now accessible in its early release stage for PC users. On September 25, it will be made available for both Nintendo Switch and the rumored Switch 2 console as well.

Meanwhile, it maintains a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p when used in Handheld Mode. Compared to the original Nintendo Switch version, both modes run at 720p and 60 frames per second. If you own both consoles, you can upgrade the Nintendo Switch version to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for free.
Cross-Saves w/ Nintendo Switch and PC
In the new version 1.0, Hades II features the ability to share saves across various platforms. This includes transfers between Nintendo Switch and its potential successor, as well as between Steam and the Epic Games Store. If you’ve been playing an Early Access version and wish to continue on Nintendo’s gaming consoles, you can easily transfer your save data using a built-in menu option within the game.
Nintendo Switch 2 Retail Edition on Nov. 20
Looking forward to presenting the retail variant of “Hades II” for Nintendo Switch 2, arriving by the end of this year! Remarkably, this adaptation works seamlessly on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming version. This package includes a standard physical game card, an illustrated Character Compendium booklet filled with artwork from the game, a download code for the “Hades II Original Soundtrack” (offering approximately four hours of music!), and a reversible cover. The price for this retail edition is set at $49.99 within North America.
Time Cannot Be Stopped
Title “Hades II” marks our team’s debut sequel, and we’ve poured over four and a half years of dedication into it. Since May 2024, we’ve been in Early Access mode, incorporating player feedback to help us fully materialize this game’s potential. The end product is our most expansive creation yet, a game we hope will live up to the legacy of its predecessor.
To our Early Access gamers, we truly appreciate your inspiration and backing! To those of you eagerly waiting, thank you for your patience. We’re excited to reveal the complete game to you within this very month!
