At today’s Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, Supergiant Games officially announced that their follow-up roguelike game, Hades 2, is planned for the new console. It hasn’t been determined yet if Hades 2 will be among the games launching with the Switch 2, as no release date was disclosed.
In the broadcast, Greg Kasavin, the creative director of Supergiant Games, announced that Melinoe and other Greek mythology figures will make their appearance in the Switch 2 game.
In May 2024, Hades 2 began early access, however, it’s undetermined whether the game’s final release will align with the launch of Switch 2 or if it will continue in early access as stated in our review. We praised Hades 2 as a bold expansion upon its predecessor’s concepts due to its expanded split-level dungeon crawling experience. The sequel nearly doubles the content from its original, offering more boss battles, collectibles, achievements, and mechanics without feeling overly complex.
As I wrapped up my latest gaming session with Hades, the devs hinted at some exciting updates coming our way in 2025. However, they didn’t spill the beans on whether we might finally get a launch date for the full game. So, fingers crossed!
