‘Grimm’ Movie in Development at Peacock

“Grimm” is coming back from the dead — this time, in the form of a movie.

It’s been announced by Peacock that they are working on a full-length revival of the supernatural police drama, originally broadcast on NBC between 2011 and 2017, which was titled “EbMaster“.

Josh Berman, the mind behind Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva,” is penning the screenplay for the “Grimm” film. He will be co-producing this project with the original series’ showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, as well as original executive producers Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner. The production studios for this remake are Hazy Mills Productions, run by Todd Milliner, and Universal Television.

The details about the cast and storyline for the “Grimm” film are being tightly guarded, but in the original show, David Giuntoli played Portland detective Nick Burkhardt. Unbeknownst to him, he was a Grimm – a sworn protector tasked with maintaining balance between humans and mystical creatures called Wesen. Throughout the series, Nick faced numerous dangerous adversaries, receiving support from his Wesen companion Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), who had a wolf-like appearance, and his partner detective Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby).

Completing the cast were Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee. The recurring actors included Danny Bruno, Jacqueline Toboni, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Damien Puckler.

It’s not a new occurrence that the studio has considered resurrecting “Grimm”. Back in 2018, NBC revealed plans for a spin-off of the show, led by writer and executive producer Melissa Glenn, along with many members of the original creative team. The intention was to expand upon the mythology of the initial series, bringing back beloved characters from before and introducing new ones. Regrettably, the project didn’t progress beyond the development stage.
