Grey’s Anatomy Stars Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd Exit in Season 22 Finale

Two of the longest-running actors on Grey’s Anatomy, Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver, will be leaving the show. They play doctors Owen Hunt and Teddy Altman and will appear in the final episode of Season 22.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy may be surprised to learn some news about Owen Hunt and Teddy Altman. Kevin McKidd first joined the show as Owen in Season 5 and has been a regular for the past 18 seasons. Kim Raver, who plays Teddy, joined the following season and has been closely connected to Owen’s storyline ever since.

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, shared that she feels it’s both happy and sad to give Owen and Teddy a well-deserved happy ending to their long and complicated love story. She expressed how much she’s enjoyed watching their relationship grow over the years, noting their constant pull towards each other.

Kevin and Kim are incredibly talented actors who brought depth and emotion to their characters, Owen and Teddy. Grey’s Anatomy Bids Farewell to Owen and Teddy

Sources say McKidd and Raver learned months ago their characters would be leaving Grey’s Anatomy (with Rhimes assuring fans the couple will ultimately find happiness in their shared parenting). Both actors have since released statements confirming their exits.

McKidd shared that both acting as Dr. Owen Hunt and directing on the show have been incredibly impactful experiences, thanks to the amazing people he’s worked with. He especially expressed gratitude to Shonda Rhimes for creating the character of Owen and for supporting his transition into directing.

He shared that Grey’s Anatomy has been a significant part of his life, both professionally and personally, and he’s incredibly thankful for all the opportunities the show has provided him over the years.

Grey’s Anatomy Moves Forward

Besides the actors who have been on the show since the beginning, Scott McKidd has been with Grey’s Anatomy the longest. He first joined the show in Season 5 as Owen Hunt, becoming a new love interest for Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) after her relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) ended. Their connection became even more complex when Teddy Altman arrived – she had served with Owen in the Army and eventually became a mentor to Cristina, filling the role Burke previously held.

Owen’s love life has been complicated. He was first married to Christina, then to Amelia Shepherd, but both marriages ended in divorce. He eventually found happiness with Teddy, and they had two children together. Although they split up and are now co-parenting, they’ve recently started reconnecting, hinting at a possible reconciliation – something the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, has suggested might happen.

Kevin McKidd and Jesse Williams’ last episode on Grey’s Anatomy will be shown on May 7th. While the show hasn’t been officially renewed yet, an announcement about its future is expected soon.
