Three weeks past, amidst the ferocious wildfire outbreaks in Los Angeles, there was a debate about the appropriateness of holding Grammy Weekend, given the safety concerns, even if it could be done safely.

Following approval from local authorities, the Recording Academy and CBS’s broadcast partner made a swift decision to move forward with a scaled-down event lineup, which would be reimagined as fundraising initiatives. The impact of this choice was evident on Tuesday morning, as a representative for the Recording Academy informed EbMaster that they and their charity partner MusiCares amassed over $24 million for wildfire relief and various charitable causes, with nearly $9 million raised during the Grammy Awards day itself.
