As a veteran gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that this Thanksgiving surprise from Digital Extremes has me grinning ear to ear! Free games are always a welcome treat, and who can resist the allure of Dark Sector? The game’s gritty third-person shooter action, coupled with its intriguing storyline, has been on my radar for quite some time.
Unlike typical Thanksgiving custom, where gifts aren’t usually exchanged, Digital Extremes, the creator of Warframe, isn’t holding back on a giveaway. They are generously offering their 2008 third-person shooter game, Dark Sector, free of charge. However, you’ll need to act quickly as this offer is only available until November 30th.
Digital Extremes recently announced on platform X that you can temporarily claim Dark Sector on Steam, their gaming platform.
Eager to delve back into Hayden Tenno’s tale before the events of #Warframe: 1999? You’re in luck! Dark Sector is now free on Steam until November 30th.

Digital Extremes acknowledges Dark Sector as an influence for creating Warframe, and this game was first introduced on personal computers (PC), Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The narrative places players in charge of Hayden Tenno, a secret operative, who undertakes a clandestine operation within the Eastern European nation of Lasria. Over time, he uncovers a lethal mystery that results in his exposure to a bio-weapon known as the Technocyte Virus.
Typically, the Technocyte virus transforms its hosts into mindless, violent beings. However, Hayden managed to dodge this destiny, for the time being at least, and instead was endowed with extraordinary abilities that could potentially help him survive in Lasria.
Over the sunny days of summer, Digital Extremes unveiled a tantalizing sneak peek at Warframe’s next chapter, Warframe: 1999. This captivating narrative promises an extraordinary journey on an alternate Earth that has already piqued my curiosity. On top of that, the studio granted a heartwarming wish by allowing a child to be a voice actor in the upcoming expansion when it releases later this year.
