Gordon Ramsay is famous for hosting many cooking competition shows, but he’s now trying something completely new: his first scripted television series.
I’m so excited to hear that Gordon Ramsay is going to be executive producing a new drama series! It’s based on the incredible memoir, The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry – I read it years ago and loved it. Stephanie Danler is adapting the story for TV, which is fantastic, and Gordon will be working alongside Lisa Edwards from Studio Ramsay, the author Kathleen Flinn, and Olivia Allen. It’s still in development with Fox Entertainment Studios, but I already can’t wait to see it!
I was immediately drawn into the story of The Sharper Your Knife! It follows Kathleen Flinn, who, after losing her job, bravely decides to completely reinvent herself by using her savings to go to cooking school – in another country, no less! It’s amazing to watch her trade the stressful world of corporate meetings for the heat of a professional kitchen. It sounds like a really funny and touching story about finding yourself, and I can’t wait to see how she navigates this big change.
Rachel Bilson will star in a new drama focused on female empowerment. She’s widely recognized for her work on the TV series Hart of Dixie, where she played Dr. Zoe Hart, and is also known for her previous collaboration with Fox on the 2023 show Accused. Bilson has also appeared in recurring roles on popular shows like How I Met Your Mother and Nashville. Her film credits include The Last Kiss, Jumper, and The To Do List.
Fans of shows about culinary life will likely enjoy The Sharper Your Knife. This comedy-drama follows Jeremy Allen White as a talented chef who goes back to Chicago to run his late brother’s Italian beef restaurant. Over its four seasons, the series has been highly praised and has won 21 Emmy Awards.
Gordon Ramsay Has Been at Fox for 20 Years
News of Gordon Ramsay’s latest venture, The Sharper Your Knife, comes as he marks two decades working with Fox. Ramsay first gained fame with British shows like Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and The F Word. He then partnered with Fox to create American versions of these programs, which quickly became hits. As of 2025, both Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares continue to air, with Hell’s Kitchen currently in its 24th season on Fox.
Gordon Ramsay played a key role in creating and judging the American version of the cooking show MasterChef, which has been on the air since 2010 and currently has 15 seasons. He also hosts several reality TV series, including Hotel Hell, Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, and Next Level Chef. Next Level Chef was recently renewed for two more seasons, announced in February.
Gordon Ramsay is known for his work on reality TV, but he’s also appeared in scripted shows, voicing himself in 2011 and making a brief appearance on Fox’s New Girl in 2017. However, The Shaper Your Knife is the first time he’ll have significant creative control over a scripted series. Considering the show’s focus, his extensive culinary knowledge makes him a perfect fit as an executive producer.
