Google states that this process is secure and user data remains protected. The AI Inbox feature is now being tested with a select group of users, and will be available to everyone in the next few months.
Google is rolling out two new AI features for Gmail. AI Overviews quickly summarizes lengthy email chains, giving you the essential information. Plus, Gmail can now understand your questions in plain language and find answers directly within your inbox, like locating old contacts or recapping past chats.
Everyone can now use free conversation summaries, but asking questions about your inbox requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
Gmail is improving its writing features for all users. Everyone can now use Help Me Write and updated Suggested Replies to create or polish emails, taking into account the conversation and your own writing style. A new Proofread tool offers more detailed grammar and tone checks, but it’s only available with paid Gmail subscriptions.
In December 2025, Google started letting users update their older, potentially unwanted Gmail addresses.
