Instead of Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, fans can now look forward to seeing Godzilla and Kong team up again in the trailer just released for Season 2 on Apple TV.
The latest trailer for the movie features Godzilla and Kong, but centers on a new, mysterious underwater Titan. Kurt Russell’s character, Lee Shaw, explains that this creature is a greater threat than both Kong and Godzilla, and the trailer shows it emerging from the depths to destroy a ship with its massive tentacles.
Now that a powerful new Titan, called Titan X, has emerged and is endangering the world, Shaw confidently states that the only way to defeat it is with the help of Kong and Godzilla. He believes they are the necessary force to combat this new threat.
While many are excited about the new movie, some people are concerned that adding Kong and Godzilla could actually complicate things. The trailer shows both Titans playing a significant role in the fight against the new monster, with Kong actively battling the villain.
What Do Monsterverse Fans Know About Titan X?
Apple and Legendary haven’t shared many details about Titan X, beyond what’s been shown in trailers for Monarch Season 2. They’ve described it as more than just another monster, calling it a “living cataclysm” and saying that its huge, glowing appearance will feel like a moment when the world stops to take a breath.
The trailer finally reveals the new creature, described as an ancient and immensely powerful force rising from the depths. Its intentions are unknown, and it inspires both wonder and fear.
Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm reprise their roles, joining Kong and Godzilla in their battle against Titan X. Wyatt Russell also returns as a younger version of Lee Shaw.
With Kong and Godzilla appearing in Season 2 of Monarch, fans of the Monsterverse have something to enjoy while they wait for the next movie, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is scheduled to release in March 2027. The new season will help bridge the gap until the film arrives in theaters.
Grant Sputore directed Supernova, which has been in post-production since late 2025. The film will primarily introduce new characters alongside the Titans, and currently, Dan Stevens is the only confirmed returning cast member, playing Trapper Beasley.
Supernova will be the sixth movie in the Monsterverse series. It follows these previous films: Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).
Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse is a huge success, with each movie earning over $100 million in the US and $375 million globally. The five films released so far have collectively made over $2.5 billion worldwide.
Okay, so I’m really excited – Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is hitting Apple TV on February 27th! And the best part? They’re dropping a new episode every Friday until May 1st, which means I’ll have something awesome to look forward to each week. Seriously, mark your calendars!
