The upcoming God of War television show has received an exciting update.
Amazon’s Prime Video is creating a TV series inspired by the acclaimed video game, God of War. The show is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, and will be led by Ronald D. Moore, who is writing, running, and executive producing the series.
What is the God of War update?
According to Deadline, the popular video game God of War will get two seasons on television. While production on the first season is starting in Vancouver and casting is underway, the show hasn’t announced any actors yet. Fans can look forward to a second season at some point in the future.
Frederick E.O. Toye, the Emmy-winning director of FX’s Shōgun, will direct the first two episodes of the new Prime Video series. He’s also directed popular shows like The Boys, Fallout, Lost, and The Walking Dead, among many others.
The upcoming show, based on the popular video game God of War, centers on Kratos and Atreus, a father and son duo, as they travel to scatter the ashes of their loved one, Faye. As reported by Deadline, the series will explore Kratos teaching his son to embrace his godly potential, while Atreus attempts to help his father reconnect with his humanity.
The God of War series is produced in collaboration with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Leading the production are executive producers Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee, with Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham are co-executive producers.
