The world of God of War is expanding! Not only did Sony recently release a new game in the series, but they’ve also announced that the first three God of War games will be remade for the PlayStation 5.

On Reddit, fans are excitedly discussing where the next major game might take place, now that it seems the series has finished with Norse mythology. The ideas they’ve come up with are really creative.

Egypt Would Be Ideal Though

A Redditor named Clear-Leave-8034 shared an image imagining the game God of War reimagined with Mayan mythology, and fans are now excitedly discussing the possibility of such a version being made.

Fans are excited about the possibility of a game based on Aztec or Mayan mythology, with one saying they’re definitely interested. Another fan pointed out the impressive imagery and strong concept, but believes Egypt is more likely next, as the game director previously wanted the 2018 God of War to be set there and subtle references to Egypt were included in both God of War and Ragnarok.

Many players are excited about the possibility of future games exploring settings like Hindu or Celtic mythology, but Egypt remains the most requested location. Some fans have even suggested more specific ideas, such as having Kratos interact with the Shinto god Hachiman and imagining him wearing samurai armor.

I’m so hyped for the next game, and I have a feeling it’s going to be huge! I’m predicting it won’t focus on just one mythology like the Norse ones we’ve seen. Instead, I think we’ll get a really epic, worldwide adventure where we travel between realms based on different cultures – like Celtic, Shinto, Egyptian, and even Mesoamerican gods. Imagine jumping between all those different worlds – it would be incredible!

Now that the story has progressed, Sony Santa Monica has a lot of options for future God of War games. They could introduce a brand new character, or even move the focus away from Kratos altogether. Another possibility is a game centered around Atreus, which fans have been hoping for.

If the game still focuses on exciting action and letting players discover new things, fans will be interested. I’m not convinced about making Atreus the main character, but the developers are talented enough to make it work, particularly if they have a great supporting cast.

Look, Sony isn’t letting the God of War series die anytime soon, that’s for sure. I mean, the original games are still awesome to play, and the new Norse ones are massively popular. It’s one of those series that gets passed down to new gamers, and as long as it’s still making them money, I expect we’ll be seeing remasters and remakes for years to come – probably decades, honestly.
