Ghosts’ Rebecca Wisocky Shared Why Hetty And Trevor Are ‘Perfect Foils,’ And I Love What Asher Grodman Added To Their Big Moment

Okay, so I just finished watching Episode 3 of Ghosts Season 5, “Halloween 5: The Mummy,” and wow! If you want to see it right away, it’s streaming on Paramount+ the day after it airs. Just a heads up – there might be spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet!

As a big fan of Ghosts, I always expect the Halloween episodes to be extra chaotic, and this year’s didn’t disappoint! They woke up the mummy, Amunhotep, and he was not happy with the Woodstone family. The whole thing led to Hetty desperately trying to cover up the fact that she’d bought his sarcophagus way back in 1890 – she even did a fantastic Marge Gunderson impression from Fargo to try and deflect! It was surprisingly sweet to see things end on a good note for Hetty and Trevor, and Rebecca Wisocky talked about how much fun it was playing Hetty’s crazy adventure.

Beyond its spooky theme, ‘Halloween 5: The Mummy’ delivered some unexpected moments, particularly with Isaac and Nigel’s relationship now revealed. I was most surprised, however, by the scene where Trevor playfully asked Hetty to do a Philadelphia accent – and her enthusiastic response clearly made everyone else uncomfortable! Having just finished rewatching the series in preparation for Season 5, I was hoping for more scenes with Isaac and Nigel. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Rebecca Wisocky shared her thoughts on the dynamic between Hetty and Trevor.

Hetty and Trevor continue to be a great contrast to each other. It’s unclear if they’ll try a casual relationship this year, but they’re always involved in something, whether it’s working together or getting back at each other.

While Thor and Flower have been a ghostly couple for a long time on the show, and Pete and Alberta are a very recent pairing, I always find the push-and-pull dynamic between Hetty and Trevor – how they both annoy and seem to like each other – particularly amusing.

Rebecca Wisocky revealed that Hetty’s Philadelphia accent was a tribute to her own Pennsylvania upbringing. However, her co-star, Asher Grodman, came up with the idea of how Trevor would react to it.

I grew up in Pennsylvania, especially around Philadelphia, so that accent holds a special place for me. I should probably apologize to my friends from Philly – the accent I created is actually a blend of Philly, Baltimore, and south-central Pennsylvania sounds, but it’s meant as a fun tribute! I suggested this idea to Joe Port while we were discussing how Marge should sound, and I was thrilled he liked the concept of Hetty picking up and imitating different accents. Asher, who was nearby, immediately joked that Trevor would find it really attractive, and honestly, a Philly accent being a turn-on for Trevor is a brilliant idea.

The show can now explore more of Trevor’s interests, beyond things like his past with The Cutting Edge and his business ventures. It seems he’s a fan of the Philadelphia accent, and Hetty is happy to use it around him – more so than she’d recreate scenes from Splash! It makes sense the Halloween episode ended with a scene featuring Trevor, as the next couple of episodes will likely center around Asher Grodman’s character, especially with Trevor’s daughter coming back.

The promo for the next installment doesn’t drop many details for what to expect, but take a look:
