So, Sony just let us know exactly when I’ll be able to jump into Ghost of Yotei! It officially launches on October 2nd, and it’s a PS5 exclusive – awesome! It’s a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, but don’t worry, you don’t need to have played the first one because this one has its own, completely standalone story.
The Ghost of Yotei update will become available around midnight local time on October 2nd, depending on your location. This means players in some areas of the US can start Atsu’s story of revenge as early as late tomorrow, October 1st. For example, players on the West Coast will be able to access the update at 9 PM PT tomorrow, while those on the East Coast will see it unlock at 12 AM ET on October 2nd.
Ghost of Yotei centers around Atsu, a mercenary-unlike Jin in Ghost of Tsushima, who was a samurai. This new open-world game is set in Feudal Japan and follows Atsu’s quest for revenge after a group of bandits murdered her family.
The game has partnered with a brewery for a special promotion. Sapporo has created limited-edition Ghost of Yotei packaging, which includes a QR code that unlocks their iconic star logo within the game. Additionally, Sucker Punch Productions is happy to hear that Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed, as this means Ghost of Yotei won’t be launching at the same time as the highly awaited game this fall.
I just checked out TopMob’s review of Ghost of Yotei, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest games dropping this October. I’m excited, but it’s a little frustrating that even though the main game for PS5 comes out this week, we won’t get to play the Legends multiplayer mode until 2026! That’s a long wait.
