Okay, so if you’re into modding games – making them, or just downloading cool mods – you’re probably going to hear about GGMods soon if you haven’t already. There are a bunch of places to get mods right now, but GGMods is trying to do things a little differently, and they’re really focusing on making it easier for mod creators. They’re officially launching on April 13th, so keep an eye out!
GGMods is built by its community, giving modders complete control and support. This commitment is already evident with the announcement of a Modathon event, scheduled to take place on the platform from April 13th to May 11th, once the site officially launches.
Joining the GGMods community offers immediate advantages, such as rewards for creators, a special program for founding modders, and development shaped by the community. We also host regular events, including an exciting Modathon planned for Spring 2026.
The first Modathon is almost here! Let’s preview the games that could be part of this month-long event and learn more about what to expect.
Modathon will Allow Modders to Showcase in Popular Games

Okay, so GGMods is doing a Modathon, which is super exciting! We don’t officially know which games will be included yet, but looking at what’s already popular on their site gives us a pretty good idea. Right now, with over 3,000 mods for 40 different games available, these are the top ten games people are checking out:
- Fallout: New Vegas
- The Sims 4
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (and the original Skyrim)
- Fallout 4
- Stardew Valley
- Starfield
- Fallout 3
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
If you enjoy modifying Bethesda games, you’ll be pleased to hear that many of the most popular games for modding come from that publisher. However, there are still plenty of options available if you’re interested in other types of games too.
Beyond the large, role-playing game highlighted earlier, here are some other noteworthy titles worth mentioning.
- Subnautica
- Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Schedule I
- Cronos: The New Dawn
The games we’ll feature in the Modathon will be the five with the most submissions by Sunday, April 12th. So, if you want to see a particular game included, start submitting your mods now!
Different Themes Each Week will Give Everyone a Chance
GGMod’s Spring 2026 Modathon will feature a variety of games, with a new theme each week for four weeks. If you don’t love the first week’s theme, starting April 13th, there’s a good chance later weeks will have contests that appeal to you more.
I’m really excited for the new themes they’re planning! We don’t know what they are yet, but it sounds like we’ll find out about the first one pretty soon – especially as April 13th gets closer. Until then, I’m thinking it’s a good idea to brush up on my modding skills and start brainstorming ideas for some of the popular games everyone’s playing right now.
Modathon Contest will Feature Nice Prizes
Okay, now for the best part! GGMods’ Modathon isn’t just about showing off what you can do with modding – they’re actually giving away some amazing prizes to the people who create the coolest stuff. Here’s a look at what you can win:
- A cash prize pool of $7,000
- Game giveaways totaling $1,000
- Game bundles, Steam gift cards, and Discord Nitro subs for regular GGMods users
GGMods has released details on how contest prizes will be distributed, and here’s a breakdown of the specifics.
We’ll be awarding prizes for our five qualifying games. The specific prizes will be announced after we launch and identify the games with the most mods on GGMods.
Weekly Prizes:
I’m so excited! Every week, they’re giving away $100 to the mod that best fits the weekly theme, as decided by a panel of judges. It’s awesome to see creativity rewarded like this!
$50 Steam gift card will be awarded per game, every week to the most downloaded mod that week.
Grand Prize:
During the 2026 Spring Madness Modathon, the mod with the most downloads for each game will win a $1000 prize.
How to Enter
Joining the Spring 2026 Modathon is easy! If you want to participate, it’s really straightforward.

From April 13th to May 11th, creators can submit new mods to GGMods for a chance to be featured in the Modathon. Winners and prizes will be revealed on May 15th.
Here’s a clear explanation of the requirements, directly quoted from the official GGMods Press Release.
– Users create an account on GGMods
– Submit a new (previously unpublished) mod whether original or inspired by our weekly themes
– Tag it “Spring Madness 2026 Modathon”
GGMods is inviting creators to sign up for an account on their site and upload any mods they aren’t submitting to the Modathon. This helps their favorite games qualify for the contest, so please submit mods by the April 12th deadline.
You can submit as many entries as you like, but you can only win one prize. Submitting multiple entries increases your chances of winning. Teams are welcome to collaborate on a single submission, but the person listed as the primary contact will be responsible for dividing any winnings among the team members.
