Okay, so the Painkiller remake – they’re calling it a reimagining, really – is coming out in less than a month! I first heard about it at the Future Games Show this year, and now there’s even more reason to be excited. They just dropped a new trailer showing off a totally new roguelike mode. Seriously, I can’t wait!
Painkiller introduces Rogue Angel mode
The upcoming game Painkiller, created by Anshar Studios and published by 3D Realms, is shaping up to be a fast-paced and intense action experience. It features a unique co-op mode that seamlessly integrates with the single-player campaign, ensuring constant excitement. We’re now getting our first detailed look at the new Rogue Angel mode.
This mode is similar to classic roguelikes: when you die, you restart at the beginning, but you’ll keep a portion of the items and improvements you’ve earned. Get ready for special bonuses, huge groups of enemies, and a lot of challenging action!

Okay, so the new *Painkiller* is officially dropping on October 21st, 2025! It’ll be available on PC through Steam, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. They had originally planned for an October 9th release, but the developers wanted a little more time to really polish things up before launch, which I totally get. I’d rather wait for a smoother experience!
You can now pre-order the game and receive the “Iron Crusade” skin pack, which gives medieval-themed outfits for all four playable characters and six special weapon designs. If you purchase the Deluxe Edition, you’ll also get the season pass.
