Nvidia is limiting the amount of time users can play games on its GeForce Now cloud gaming service, and most players will soon notice the change. The company is implementing a new monthly playtime restriction.
Nvidia GeForce Now allows you to play PC games even if you don’t have a powerful computer. Instead of running games on your device, it streams them directly from Nvidia’s servers to your laptop, phone, TV, or less powerful PC. You can use games you already own from platforms like Steam and the Epic Games Store, so you don’t have to buy them again, and experience high-quality games without the cost of upgrading your hardware.
Getting unlimited access isn’t free, and the service first started limiting playtime for new users back in November 2024, no matter which plan they chose. Now, starting January 1, 2026, these playtime limits will apply to all users.
Nvidia GeForce Now adds monthly time limit
GeForce Now is introducing a new playtime limit of 100 hours per month for all paid members. This applies to all subscription levels. The only users who aren’t affected are those with the original Founders Edition, which is no longer available for new sign-ups.

After using 100 hours, users can purchase more playtime in smaller blocks. Performance members can buy an additional 15 hours for $2.99, and Ultimate subscribers can get the same amount of time for $5.99.
Currently, the Performance tier costs $9.99 a month and is designed for 1080p gaming with RTX capabilities. The Ultimate tier is $19.99 a month and gives you access to Nvidia’s best servers, faster gameplay, and up to 4K resolution. Although there’s a price difference, both tiers now include a 100-hour monthly usage limit.
Fortunately, there’s a little flexibility. If you don’t use all of your 100 hours in a given month, Nvidia lets you carry over up to 15 unused hours to the next month. You can only roll over hours once, and they don’t accumulate beyond that, but it offers some leeway for those who don’t use the service heavily.
GeForce Now users will no longer have unlimited access starting in 2026. Instead, playtime will be tracked, and you’ll have to pay once you’ve used all your allotted time.
