Actress Laura Aikman, famously known for her role in “Gavin & Stacey,” maintained such strict confidentiality with her Non-Disclosure Agreement that she concealed her part in the 90-minute special from her very own family members.
Actress Jennifer Aikman, known for her controversial character Sonia in the popular BBC series, shared a video of herself watching “Gavin & Stacey: The Finale” with her family on Christmas Day, unbeknownst to them that she was soon to appear on screen. In the episode, James Corden, one of the creators and stars, is introduced to who seems to be his future bride, leading viewers to presume it’s Nessa, played by fellow creator Ruth Jones. However, it turns out to be Sonia instead.
In the video, Aikman’s family was seen reacting with astonishment as they watched the unfolding event. Aikman herself laughed heartily, while a woman, presumably her mother, exclaimed in shock, “Oh my goodness! You didn’t tell me about this!
Aikman captioned the video: “I take an NDA very seriously.”
In the latest, she was seen with Sophie Turner in “Joan,” but during the promotional events for “Gavin & Stacey: The Finale,” she opted out and chose to remain discreet. Reports suggest that she stayed at a different hotel than her co-stars, preserving the element of surprise for the fans.
On Christmas Day in the U.K., a highly anticipated special featuring Corden and Jones together after five years apart was broadcast. This program triumphed in the ratings battle with a staggering 12.3 million viewers, outperforming “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” (9.4 million viewers) and King Charles II’s yearly Christmas address (5 million viewers).
