As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more than a few questionable practices within the industry, I must say that I find NZXT’s response to Gamers Nexus’ investigation of their Flex program rather underwhelming. While I appreciate the acknowledgment of mistakes, the lack of addressing key concerns and the introduction of new ones, as pointed out by Gamers Nexus, is concerning. It seems like a classic case of trying to sweep issues under the rug instead of addressing them head-on.
Gamers Nexus criticized NZXT’s reaction to a YouTube video made by the YouTuber, which labeled their PC rental program as “predatory.
On the 30th of November, Gamers Nexus posted a video on their channel examining NZXT’s ‘Flex’ pre-built computer system, which enables users to lease computers for a specified period instead of buying them outright.
In the video, Steve Burke highlighted various problems associated with the program such as its steep pricing, complex product descriptions, and harsh Terms of Service which he argues only serve to disadvantage consumers who decide to join.
NZXT responds to Gamers Nexus video
On Thursday, 5th December, NZXT’s CEO, Johnny Hou, shared his reasoning behind initiating the program via a video statement on YouTube.
“We want to acknowledge that we messed up,” he said.
He went on to explain that they plan on making changes to product listings for the Flex program, making it more clear which products are available for rent and which ones are their normal prebuilt offerings.
Gamers Nexus blasts NZXT’s response
After catching NZXT’s latest video, I, as a fellow gamer, felt compelled to share my thoughts on their recent response in a new post over at Gamers Nexus. In this post, we expressed our disappointment and called for a more comprehensive investigation into the company’s practices, going beyond just a surface-level examination.
NZXT released a statement that not only twists facts but warps the truth about their predatory rental computer program. This statement overlooks crucial details and raises additional questions. It’s come to Gamers Nexus’ attention that there are more substantial aspects related to this matter, which we have started investigating on our own.
“While we will put together coverage of NZXT’s inadequate and manipulative response in short order, we are also actively beginning work on a longer form investigation that could take weeks or months to finalize, depending on the depth of the rabbit hole. We will have more for you as it becomes available, starting with a deconstruction of NZXT’s statement.”
NZXT’s declaration appears to twist truth and exaggerate aspects of their questionable rent-to-own computer scheme. It seems to brush over crucial details while introducing fresh issues. It has come to the attention of GamersNexus that there might be more complex facets to this situation…

In the upcoming video from Gamers Nexus, we’re looking forward to hearing their insights on NZXT. It seems there’s more that they’re eager to disclose as soon as they can.
On more than one occasion, Gamers Nexus has gained widespread attention for speaking out against other companies. For instance, in 2023, they publicly criticized fellow YouTube content creator Linus Tech Tips, highlighting concerns about the company’s ethics and inconsistencies in their review videos.
