Game Pass Price Hike Announced, Will Cost $30/Month For Ultimate

Microsoft has revealed that Xbox Game Pass will cost more, specifically increasing the price of the Ultimate tier to $30 per month. This price adjustment is happening right before the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

For now, however, you can still get a one-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $20 at Amazon.

Microsoft is adjusting prices while also emphasizing that customers are getting increased benefits to support the cost increase. According to Microsoft, “We understand that Xbox users have different preferences, so we’re updating Game Pass to provide greater flexibility, more options, and better value for all players.”

The new plans

Starting today, October 1st, Microsoft is introducing three improved Game Pass options: Essential, Premium, and Ultimate. The Xbox Game Pass Core plan is being discontinued, and anyone currently subscribed will be moved to the Essential plan. The Standard plan is also being removed, with its members upgraded to the Premium plan. The Ultimate plan will remain unchanged, keeping the same name and benefits.

  • Xbox Game Pass Essential — $10/month
  • Xbox Game Pass Premium — $15/month
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — $30/month

The price of Game Pass Ultimate is going up by 50%, increasing from $20 per month to $30 per month. Microsoft claims this tier is receiving the “biggest upgrade yet,” but it’s not immediately clear what those changes are.

With Game Pass Ultimate, subscribers now have access to more games on release day than ever before, plus benefits like Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics. Members are also enjoying improved Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming quality, now up to 1440p.
