Gallino’s Cunning Trap For Cami Miller In Landman Season 2, Episode 4

Warning: SPOILERS For Landman Season 2, Episode 4 – “Dancing Rainbows”

In season 2, episode 4 of Landman, titled “Dancing Rainbows,” Gallino (Andy Garcia) expertly lured Cami Miller (Demi Moore) into a carefully constructed trap. Gallino, a Cuban-American cartel leader, maintains a facade as Danny Morrell, the CEO of Sonrisa, an investment firm based in Odessa, Texas, allowing him to move freely among Fort Worth’s upper class.

In season 2 of Landman, a mysterious figure has been secretly influencing the life of Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton). Tommy was shocked to learn that his son, Cooper (Jacob Lofland), was being financially supported by Danny Morrell from Sonrisa, who had been operating in the shadows.

In season 2, episode 3 of Landman, Tommy had a tense conversation with Danny Morrell. Earlier, Norris had been very clear with Gallino – using strong language – that they wouldn’t be allies, even though Gallino had let Norris live at the end of season 1. Instead of dealing with Norris, Gallino discovered a simpler path to control M-Tex: the company’s new owner, Cami Miller.

Gallino Set The Perfect Trap & Cami Miller Walked Right Into It

While Tommy Norris and his family were in Canadian, Texas, for his mother’s funeral, a significant meeting took place in Fort Worth. There, Cami revealed that M-Tex was facing severe financial problems and requested $350 million from Danny Morrell to keep the company afloat. Despite Gallino’s insistence on only working with Tommy, Danny agreed to invest in M-Tex.

Gallino intentionally lured Cami into a friendly meeting, which was actually a carefully planned trap. Posing as Danny Morrell, he approached Cami at the Cattleman’s Club during season 2, episode 3 of Landman. He was particularly charming, offering to invest in her ventures while making sure Tommy wasn’t around to hear. Mrs. Miller further concealed this offer from the new president of M-Tex.

I found it really smart how Gallino arranged a lunch meeting – and brought his wife, Bella (Stefania Spampinato) along. It was a great move because Bella, Cami, and Angela Norris (Ali Larter) instantly clicked and seemed to become fast friends right there at the Cattleman’s Club. Having Bella there was key, though. It put Cami at ease and allowed her to discuss business with Danny Morrell without suspecting anything was amiss.

Gallino Could Own M-Tex When Landman Season 2 Is Over

The latest episode of Landman left Tommy in the dark about a major development: Gallino invested $350 million to save M-Tex’s offshore drilling project. He’s also going to be furious when he discovers Cami and Danny Morrell had a secret meeting, and that he now has to work with Gallino.

Everything from Cooper Norris’s newfound wealth from oil drilling, to the financial turnaround of M-Tex thanks to Sonrisa, and even the deadly gas leaks in Midland, Texas, might all lead back to Gallino. It appears ‘Danny Morrell’ is a complex, long-term plan designed to ultimately take over M-Tex Oil.

Throughout the second season of Landman, Tommy Norris has been preoccupied with personal family matters, causing him to miss the larger strategy being employed by Gallino. Meanwhile, Danny Morrell is taking advantage of Cami’s lack of experience managing a company as large as M-Tex. Tommy needs to quickly understand Gallino’s plan and act if he hopes to protect M-Tex.
