Regardless of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač’s impressive offensive spree, HEROIC managed to recover, taking a 7-5 lead in the initial half. In the course of the game, G2 Esports kept countering and inflicting damage on HEROIC in every round, slightly weakening their economy on the CT side. Initially, HEROIC had a slight advantage at 4-2, but G2 managed to secure some crucial rounds on their attacking phase.
In a quick succession of rounds, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, the rising star from G2 Esports, shone brightly, enabling them to grab five rounds in the initial half, which was on the T side of the map Nuke. However, G2 quickly recovered from a defeat in round 20 and claimed the next two rounds on Nuke, securing a 13-9 victory and setting up for the third and decisive map of the series, Mirage.
On Mirage, team HEROIC triumphantly claimed the initial Pistol Round, followed by a successful assault against G2’s economy. In the opening gunfight, G2 Esports showed resilience in overcoming a post-plant scenario and securing their first point. However, they faltered in the 4th round, allowing HEROIC to extend their lead to 3-1. René “TeSeS” Madsen from HEROIC tallied three kills during this stretch.
Regardless of initial errors, G2 Esports recovered, with Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov delivering significant kills in every round. Subsequently, G2 Esports completed the comeback by overpowering HEROIC, tying the score at 9-9.
Demonstrating their ability to perform under pressure, HEROIC overcame the setback and emerged victorious in the 19th round. Later, with a crucial 2 versus 1 play from AWPer Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, HEROIC took an 11-9 lead.
In the 21st round, G2 Esports took a risk with a force buy, which proved successful as team leader Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski outplayed a 2v1 situation for a crucial clutch win. This move disrupted HEROIC’s economy in the following round, and G2 capitalized on an eco defense to take a commanding 12-11 lead, just one point away from winning the match and series. In a nail-bitingly close 24th round, HEROIC clawed their way back, forcing overtime.
Initially, HEROIC claimed victory during the first overtime period, but that was quickly countered by an impressive 4K score from Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, resulting in a tie at 13 points apiece. Subsequently, G2 Esports edged ahead in overtime with a score of 15-13, thanks to malbsMd’s significant contribution of another 3K in the 18th round. In a thrilling turn of events during the 19th round, G2 Esports managed a remarkable comeback, securing a win of 16-13 on Mirage and ultimately clinching the series with a 2-1 score, completing an exhilarating reverse sweep!
