‘Futurama’ Season 12 Adds Danny Trejo, Cara Delevingne, LeVar Burton as Guest Stars

As a long-time fan of animated shows and a devoted follower of “Futurama,” I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about the latest developments from Comic-Con! The announcement of new guest stars, including Danny Trejo, Ana Ortiz, Tom Kenny, Cara Delevingne, Tim Gunn, Bill Nye, Kyle MacLachlan, LeVar Burton, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, has only added to the anticipation for the upcoming season.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that some amazing stars will be gracing our screens in the upcoming episodes of “Futurama”! I can hardly contain my excitement as I hear that Danny Trejo, Ana Ortiz, Tom Kenny, Cara Delevingne, Tim Gunn, Bill Nye, Kyle MacLachlan, LeVar Burton, and Neil deGrasse Tyson have all signed on as guest stars. These talented individuals will undoubtedly bring their unique energy and charisma to the show, making for an unforgettable viewing experience. I can’t wait to see how they contribute to the world of “Futurama”!

At San Diego Comic-Con’s Ballroom 20, “Futurama” creators Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, and Claudia Katz were joined by voice actors Billy West (Fry, Prof. Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg), John DiMaggio (Bender), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), David Herman (Scruffy), and Maurice LaMarche (Kif). They shared exciting spoilers and additional information about the revived animated series, which starts its fresh set of episodes with Season 12 on Monday, exclusively on Hulu.

“TV screens welcomed back ‘Futurama’ last autumn for its second revival. Humorously, Cohen quipped, ‘We even get cancelled during panels sometimes.’ “

As a movie reviewer, I’m excited to share that in these ten new episodes, Fry and Leela’s romance takes a thrilling leap forward. Get ready for some birthday party games with deadly stakes, uncovering Bender’s family robot village secrets, making new A.I. friends (and foes), cuddling up with irresistibly adorable beanbags, and finally understanding the 5 million-year-old origin story behind everyone’s favorite consciousness-altering beverage – coffee!

As a seasoned sci-fi enthusiast and pop culture aficionado, I find it absolutely thrilling to see such a diverse and star-studded lineup of guest stars gracing our screens this season!

To make their episode stand out, the team decided against releasing a typical trailer. Instead, they arranged for a table read of an entire episode, “Quid’s Game” by Cody Ziglar, which will be the second episode this season. This unique presentation features the stars and producers engaging in the script, where we witness a twisted take on “Squid Game,” with a group of sinister aliens compelling the characters to participate in deadly challenges.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I must share that during the screening, Cohen playfully disregarded Groening and Katz’s instructions after the first act and opted to show us Act 2 as a sneak peek. Yet, the ultimate climax, which we all anxiously await, is an experience solely meant for those who will actually sit through the entire episode.

Key Insights: Groening hinted at the possibility of more crossovers between “The Simpsons” and future projects. He expressed enthusiasm for the suggestion. Regarding “Disenchantment,” coordinating between Netflix and Disney’s Hulu might be challenging, but Cohen joked that Disney could potentially acquire it in the near future.

Hulu’s revival of the show marks the second time it has been resurrected since its initial release in 1999. After airing for four seasons on Fox, reruns of the series gained popularity on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network and as DVD releases. Following this, four direct-to-video films were produced, which were later combined to create a fifth season that aired on Comedy Central from 2008 to 2013. Comedy Central then broadcasted two more seasons consisting of 26 episodes each. In February 2022, Hulu ordered 20 new episodes, and subsequently renewed the show for two additional seasons last November.
