In ‘The Musician and The Whale,’ an extraordinary documentary featuring a meeting between celebrated electronic artist Rone and a whale, Paris-based sales company Pulsar Content has secured distribution rights before the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
Valentin Paoli’s initial movie production, titled “The Musician and The Whale,” is backed by the same team responsible for “Ailo’s Journey.” This film centers around Rone, a composer famed for his work on Jacques Audiard’s “Paris, 13th District” and (La)Horde’s “Room With a View.” Rone sets sail on an adventure to encounter a whale and compose music specifically for it. In the heart of the sea, they engage in an extraordinary dialogue that will profoundly impact Rone’s existence.
The documentary “The Musician and The Whale” was produced between Reunion Island, France, Brittany, and Paris. It originated from sailors noticing that Rone’s music attracted whales to swim near their vessels. During this project, Rone is composing a new album inspired by his experiences, which will be featured in the film’s soundtrack.
Pulsar Content plans to showcase the trailer of their documentary at EFM. They were captivated by this extraordinary tale when they first learned about it, and are eager to share Valentin’s feature with a broad international audience, as well as film festivals. The French sales company expressed their excitement in a statement, calling “The Musician and the Whale” an “enchanting encounter featuring a renowned artist” and describing it as having a “bold and distinctive method of showcasing these animals’ intelligence.
The film titled ‘The Musician and The Whale’ was created by Valdés, a producer known for documentaries like ‘Ailo’s Journey’ and ‘Kina & Yuk’, both highly acclaimed animal-themed productions. This production company is associated with Borsalino Productions of France, which has recently produced films such as ‘Spoiled Brats’ and ‘Wake Up’ under the Studiocanal banner.
Valdés stated that the unique and unparalleled interaction between the whale and the musician sets the film apart as a remarkable occurrence. By capturing this meeting through Rone’s personal perspective, Valentin caters to the current public craving for authenticity that is so sought after.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t wait to share my excitement about the upcoming movie featuring Paoli. This film promises a tale that resonates universally, drawing inspiration from the awe-inspiring spectacle of the whale. It’s not just entertainment; it’s an invitation to reflect on and care for our precious marine world.
Jour 2 Fête will release “The Musician and The Whale” in theaters in France.
