Following a run of two seasons on Paramount+, it appears that the “Frasier” revival will not progress any further, as I’ve gathered. CBS Studios are now planning to offer the show, initially released in October 2023, to different streaming platforms for potential continuation.
The show, overseen by and created by Kelsey Grammer, represents a comeback of the original series “Frasier,” a spinoff from “Cheers” that ran for 11 seasons between 1993 and 2004, and received an impressive 37 Primetime Emmys. Despite not winning any awards during its first season, it managed to secure three nominations.
Although the revival might stem from CBS Studios, it’s unlikely that it will air on CBS itself, given their existing lineup of several comedies such as “The Neighborhood,” “Poppa’s House,” “George & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Ghosts,” and a new spinoff of “The Neighborhood” in development. Instead, NBC, where the original series was broadcast, could potentially revive a comedy block to recapture the essence of Must-See TV. Their current comedies include “Lopez vs Lopez,” “Happy’s Place,” “Night Court,” and “St. Denis Medical.
By 2023, Grammer expressed his desire for a more lighthearted and humorous remake of the renowned sitcom to EbMaster. He aimed for at least another 100 episodes, stating, “There’s plenty of foundation built among these characters; they are fascinating. I’m eager to find out where their stories lead and what becomes of Frasier.
Beyond just Grammar, this comedy also features actors like Jack Cutmore-Scott, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, and Anders Keith.
Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris are in charge of the show (showrunners), while Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon have executive producer roles. The legendary director, James Burrows, is back to direct several episodes for this revival. This production is handled by CBS Studios and Grammnet NH Productions, with Paramount Global Content Distribution taking care of distribution outside the regions covered by Paramount+.
The first two seasons and the original “Frasier” are available to stream on Paramount+.
