Autumn’s Whirlwind” centers on the turbulent life of Michelle (Hélène Vincent), who moved from bustling Paris to a tranquil lifestyle in Burgundy. Her adult daughter Valérie (Sagnier) continues to be the greatest enigma for Michelle – how can someone, who received so much self-sacrifice from her mother, behave with such disdain and mistrust? When Valérie leaves her grandson with Michelle for a week, Michelle sees an opportunity to rebuild their relationship. However, a kitchen mishap swiftly undermines any lingering trust between them.
Music Box Films expressed their excitement about extending their long-term, fruitful partnership with François Ozon by introducing his latest production to American audiences. It’s delightful to witness a film that revolves around a seasoned actress, Hélène Vincent, who is given a complex and intriguing character. Longtime admirers of Ozon will appreciate the opportunity to uncover the layers of witty humor and suspenseful elements in this compelling drama.
Film director Ozon, highly regarded in France for his numerous works, mentioned that this upcoming movie is his seventh collaboration with Music Box Films.
As a movie connoisseur myself, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Music Box for quite some time. They are not just business associates, but partners who truly understand and appreciate cinema. Their expertise is unmatched, and I can confidently say they excel at their craft.
Some of my most critically acclaimed films, such as the hilarious screwball comedy “The Crime Is Mine” from 2023, the poignant queer romantic drama “Summer of ’85” in 2020, the powerful “By the Grace of God” from 2019, and the entertaining comedy “Potiche” in 2010, were all distributed by Music Box. Their involvement has been instrumental in bringing these stories to a wider audience.
Nicolas Brigaud-Robert from Playtime commented that “When Fall Is Coming” has been a hit worldwide, selling in more than 40 nations. He expressed optimism that it would achieve similar success in the U.S., as he stated, “It’s a drama and a thriller with female leads who aren’t commonly seen on screen, which gives the genre a fresh, unusual twist.”
This version maintains the original meaning but aims to make it more conversational and easier for readers to understand.
The movie titled ‘When Fall Is Coming’ was created by Ozon. The deal for its distribution was arranged by Brian Andreotti from Music Box Films and Nicolas Brigaud-Robert representing the filmmakers, through Playtime.
