Fox Corp. Acquires Red Seat Ventures, Backer of Shows Led by Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson

Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson and Bill O’Reilly are going home — sort of.

Fox Corporation, which supports Fox News Channel (where the mentioned hosts had their own shows), is set to acquire Red Seat Ventures – a digital media company known for assisting numerous independent news figures in producing content.

The action seems to be designed to strengthen Tubi, which is Fox’s free, ad-supported streaming platform. Red Seat Ventures will function independently within the Tubi Media Group, with Paul Cheesbrough, currently CEO of that entity, being appointed as the chairman of Red Seat Ventures. The founding partners, Chris Balfe and Kevin Balfe, will remain in charge of the business. At this time, the specifics of the deal have not been revealed.

Right from the start, Red Seat Ventures has been fortunate to collaborate with some global powerhouse creators, helping them grow their media ventures and strengthen their personal identities,” Chris Balfe stated. “By partnering with Fox, we can now extend our offerings to these creators, broadening our services without compromising the individuality and authenticity of their brands – a situation that ideally suits us all.

For a number of years, Balfe collaborated with Glenn Beck, another former Fox News employee, on his production company, Mercury Radio Arts, and media platform, TheBlaze. More recently, Red Seat Ventures has formed partnerships with Eric Bolling, Nancy Grace, Dr. Phil, Dana Loesch, and Chris Hansen.

Fox is investing in nurturing traditional talent to attract viewers in unconventional settings. Modern platforms such as podcasts, streaming services, and newsletters have emerged as essential tools for independent creators who don’t have a conventional distribution system but can build a fanbase and community one subscriber at a time. These ventures are often successful, allowing these creators to keep a larger share of the income they earn.

It’s not the initial acquisition for Fox Corporation in this area. Back in 2021, Fox acquired Outkick, a sports news platform with a conservative slant, which was established by entrepreneur and internet personality Clay Travis.
