Forza Horizon 6 release window & setting confirmed and it’s exactly what fans wanted

The latest Forza Horizon game, Forza Horizon 6, was officially revealed at Tokyo Game Show. The trailer confirmed that the game will be set in Japan, a location fans have been expecting for a while.

It’s been almost four years since the last Horizon game came out, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new one. Their wait ended at Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation, which concluded with the game’s first trailer.

Although we didn’t see any actual gameplay, it was revealed the next game will take place in Japan and is scheduled to launch in 2026.

Forza Horizon 6 arrives in 2026

The new trailer was short and showed wristbands from past Horizon festivals held in places like the UK and Colorado. It concluded by unveiling the game’s logo, with a view of Mount Fuji in the background.

The Forza Motorsport games focus on realistic racing on official tracks, while the Horizon series is a more fun and casual experience. Both types of games are set during a huge car festival that takes over a whole area, letting players race on open roads.

Japan is a perfect location for a variety of stories because it offers such a range of scenery, including snowy mountains, peaceful lakes, and charming countryside villages.

In a follow-up blog post on Xbox Wire, the devs also revealed that there will be urban environments, including a version of Tokyo.

We’ve created a vast and immersive open-world Japan for players to explore, ranging from the vibrant, detailed city of Tokyo with its bright lights and skyscrapers, to the peaceful countryside and beautiful mountains. We’re confident players will be amazed.

Forza Horizon 6 will initially be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PlayStation 5 version coming afterward. The developers have also announced that they’ll likely reveal gameplay footage and more details in early 2026.
