Initially, the creators envisioned Starfield to incorporate a gory and dismemberment mechanic, similar to Fallout, allowing players to inflict more brutal forms of violence on enemies. Nevertheless, such elements were eventually omitted from the final version of Starfield.

During an interview with Kiwi Talkz, Dennis Mejillones (a former senior character artist) discussed the intricate details involved in designing space suits: “It’s crucial to consider numerous technical aspects. For instance, the helmet must be cut in a specific manner and detachable, and there are protective caps at the bottom for the body,” he elaborated. “To handle all these elements, we established various systems, which eventually became quite complex due to the many factors that needed to be accounted for.

Customizing a character’s body size added an extra layer of complexity, according to Mejillones. Additionally, he mentioned that graphic elements such as gore and dismemberment were not in line with the themes of Starfield compared to the exaggerated style seen in Fallout.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, Fallout has its unique charm. It’s filled with witty humor, like when they let you destroy stuff or create an explosion – it’s just one of those entertaining quirks that make playing this game so much fun!

They pointed out that the Starfield game was designed with a focus on realism. As a result, graphic elements like gore and dismemberment didn’t align with its thematic approach. Taking into account the technical expenses, it was determined that such content would be omitted from the game.

Previous team members from Starfield have openly expressed their opinions about the game and the broader gaming landscape. One individual mentioned being taken aback by the numerous loading screens in the game, while a seasoned Bethesda alum stated that gamers are growing weary of lengthy titles.

At present, Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X|S. There’s chatter that it might make an appearance on PS5 as well, given that Microsoft has moved some of its exclusive titles to competing platforms, although nothing official has been disclosed yet. As for The Elder Scrolls VI, it’s in development too, but we’re still waiting for a release date since its announcement about seven years ago.
