Former EA And BioWare Vets Unveil Zelda-Like Co-Op RPG Cloudheim

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its successor, Tears of the Kingdom, have left a significant impact on action-RPGs for the past ten years. This impact is evident in Cloudheim, the inaugural game by Noodle Cat Games, as seen in the trailer below. Cloudheim successfully emulates the visual aesthetics reminiscent of the two Zelda titles while incorporating crafting elements similar to Tears of the Kingdom.

Noodle Cat Games is a studio staffed by industry veterans from Electronic Arts (EA), BioWare, Codemasters, Disney, and Epic Games. As their team explains, the game Cloudheim is set in a world influenced by ancient Norse mythology that players must help return to its previous splendor. Players can embark on this quest alone or with up to three online partners for a cooperative gaming experience. Furthermore, team members can collectively discover and share weapons and abilities throughout their adventure.

At present, details about the story are somewhat scarce, but Noodle Cat hints that Cloudheim boasts a world that can be shattered completely. When confronting adversaries, players can combine their skills in succession for powerful attacks. Moreover, players may ally themselves with various extraordinary creatures inhabiting this realm, such as the resourceful Blins, the ravenous Gnasher, and the spiky yet faithful Swordcupine.

In this game, creating items like weapons, gear, and unique abilities is equally important as playing it. The game world is perilous, so players find safety on a colossal turtle named Odin Shell, drifting in the sky. This turtle harbors remnants of a deceased god’s power. On Odin Shell, players can design their personal spaces, grow stronger, and uncover hidden mysteries – all while exploring the secrets within the Odin Shell itself.

It’s anticipated that Cloudheim will be launched in the third quarter of the current year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S platforms.
