Forklift jewellery thief busted after bizarre donkey getaway

A jewelry thief in Turkey became an internet sensation after a strange escape: they crashed into a store with a forklift and then fled on a donkey.

In central Turkey on February 10th, a surprising robbery took place: a thief used a forklift to break into a jewelry store, stole around 150 grams of gold, and then made a getaway on a donkey.

Police used security camera footage to identify the suspect, as reported by The Independent, and were able to find and arrest him. They then recovered the stolen gold and gave it back to the shop owner.

Donkey getaway heist goes viral

You won’t believe what I just saw on the security footage! This guy actually drove a forklift into the store! Then, he used the forklift to rip open the shutters and get inside. Once he was in, he just flipped over a jewelry case and grabbed everything he could. The most ridiculous part? He hopped on a donkey and rode off with the stolen goods! Seriously, a donkey! It was unbelievable.

According to local news in Turkey, the robbery happened in the Melikgazi area early in the morning. After the crime, police found that the suspect had hidden the stolen gold, which officers later discovered during their search.

Okay, so you will NOT believe this. I just read about this insane heist! Apparently, some guy in Turkey actually drove a FORKLIFT into a jewelry store, grabbed about 150 grams of gold, and then… get this… made his getaway on a DONKEY! Seriously, a donkey! It sounds like something out of a video game, but it actually happened!

The story of a forklift and a donkey being stolen sounds like it could happen in a video game like Red Dead Redemption 2, but it’s actually just the latest in a series of strange thefts.

Real-life crimes can be surprisingly bizarre – from thefts of entire truckloads of salsa to a grocery store heist led by someone dressed as Santa, and even a $100,000 snail theft from a farm in France. Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction!
