A food delivery robot was hit by a train in Florida and destroyed after stopping on the train tracks. Video of the incident quickly spread online.
The accident happened because a small, self-driving delivery robot stopped on the train tracks and couldn’t move before a train arrived. The robot is made to drive on sidewalks and deliver food.
A video circulating online shows a train colliding with a robot at a fast speed, completely destroying it.
Robot fails to clear tracks before collision
According to Fox 13 Tampa Bay, Guillermo Dapelo, the person who filmed the robot getting struck by a train, stated:
I was walking my dogs around 8 pm when I noticed a food delivery car stuck on the train tracks. The Uber Eats driver had already reported the issue to the company, and shortly after, a train came along – the whole incident was caught on video.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident, and the train was able to resume service after colliding with the robot. Unfortunately, the robot was a total loss, and pieces of it were found all over the tracks.
In a statement (via News18), the robot’s manufacturer, Coco, said:
We know about the problem in Miami where a Coco robot briefly stopped working near some railroad tracks. Ensuring everyone’s safety is our main concern, so our robots move at walking speed, give way to people, and are constantly watched by trained safety operators.
This accident happened shortly after another Waymo passenger had to escape a self-driving car that became stuck on railroad tracks.
