After the success of the 2022 horror film M3GAN, earning $181 million worldwide, Blumhouse hoped it would be the start of a major franchise. However, things haven’t gone as expected. The sequel, M3GAN 2.0, didn’t perform well in theaters this summer, and now the planned theatrical release for the spinoff film, Soulm8te, has been cancelled despite being finished.
I was really looking forward to this new horror movie, scheduled for January 9th, 2026, but it seems like Universal has not only cancelled its release, they’re actually trying to sell it off to another studio! As far as anyone knows, there’s no word yet on who might take it on, which is a shame. I’m hoping someone will still give it a chance.
More to come…
