Florida is preparing to take legal action against companies that create and distribute pornography, including video games, initiating lawsuits to challenge their practices.
Florida’s Attorney General, James Uthmeier, has sued Lustyheroes.com and the company that owns Nutaku.net and SpiceVids.com, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. The lawsuits claim these websites broke a new state law, HB 3, which requires adult websites to confirm the ages of their Florida users. The law went into effect in January.
Uthmeier claims that three websites haven’t properly verified the age of their visitors, ensuring they are at least 18. He is now suing them, hoping to set a precedent and force them to take responsibility.
Florida is dedicated to being the best state for families, according to Uthmeier. The state recently enacted laws to protect children from inappropriate content, but social media platforms haven’t followed those rules. Now, Florida is taking legal action to enforce these protections and prevent platforms from circumventing them.
Gethins Limited distributes Lustyheroes, and Aylo owns Nutaku, SpiceVids, and Pornhub. While Gethins hasn’t spoken publicly about a recent lawsuit, Aylo states that Nutaku and SpiceVids have been following the new laws since they were implemented earlier this year.
Aylo stated to the Tallahassee Democrat that they strongly deny the accusations and will fight them in court. The company is dedicated to following all relevant state laws and plans to share the full story through legal proceedings.
Republican lawmakers are continuing their efforts to restrict access to pornography. Many people who visit adult websites have recently started seeing requests to verify their age, depending on their location. Republicans argue these measures are necessary to protect children from harmful content. However, despite these efforts, access to pornography remains possible.
