Florida man arrested after posting high speed police chase on TikTok

Police in Florida arrested an 18-year-old after he shared a TikTok video of himself leading police on a high-speed chase. Investigators used the video to track him down.

Look, as a gamer, I know everyone makes mistakes, but if I did something I shouldn’t, the last thing I’d do is record it and upload it for the world to see! Seriously, leaving evidence behind is just asking for trouble. It’s basic common sense, right?

Back in February, 18-year-old Derrick Walker from Navarre, Florida, led police on a high-speed chase. He was reportedly going over 90 miles per hour in an area with a 35 mph speed limit.

Police noticed Walker was riding a bicycle with a long camera mount on the back, but it didn’t have a license plate. According to Chief Deputy Randy Tifft, when the deputy turned on his lights and siren, Walker sped up, according to Fox 10 News.

Police find high speed chase suspect thanks to TikTok

Police arrested the 18-year-old on March 1st after seeing a video of the incident on TikTok.

After searching his property with a warrant, police found equipment that matched the bike used in the speeding incident. He confessed to riding the bike, and was then arrested.

I just heard that Walker is in serious trouble! Apparently, he’s been charged with a felony for trying to outrun the police at high speed, plus reckless driving and speeding – like, over 50 miles per hour over the limit! It sounds like he really put himself and others in danger.

This isn’t the first time someone has recorded their own crime and been caught because of it. In Los Angeles, Cesar Gustavo Diaz filmed himself giving a Buzzball alcoholic beverage to a Cooper’s Hawk.

As part of his sentence, he must complete 20 days of community service, attend 24 sessions of animal cruelty counseling, and is prohibited from owning animals for five years and possessing firearms for ten years. He also has to pay $220 in fines and court costs.
