A Florida bar is going viral on TikTok thanks to its live cameras that broadcast footage of its patrons enjoying themselves – and having a few too many drinks.
Watching live streams of places – like wildlife, weather, or construction sites – has been around for a while. But these streams don’t often become hugely popular online.
A bar in Florida called the Elbo Room has become popular on social media thanks to its many live cameras.
This Fort Lauderdale bar has been broadcasting live on cameras since 1996, but recently TikTok users have begun watching it like a reality show. People now tune in nightly and share the most interesting moments.
Elbo Room streams become TikTok’s “favorite show”
A TikTok user named Courtneykcolombo shared a popular video on October 4th, calling it and her partner’s “favorite show.”
The TikTok video, which has gained nearly 2 million views, features a creator live-commentating while people dance at the Elbo Room. She points out that one dancer seems conscious of the camera, while his companion is trying to leave.
I was watching the stream last night and honestly, one of the guys was really getting on my nerves – it was kinda funny though! It made me realize how much things have changed for me. I’m 37 now, got kids, and I’m usually in bed by 9 PM, haha. So now I just live vicariously through the streamers, you know?
People watching the stream immediately started asking about the cameras, specifically if they recorded sound. Courtney responded that audio was available for $2.99 a month, with the first month being free.
Someone else added that it’s similar to how children watch videos of other kids playing with toys on YouTube.
The Elbo Room isn’t the only bar livestreaming its customers – it’s actually quite common, both in the US and the UK. You can easily find people doing karaoke or other performances live on TikTok from bars all over, even on weeknights in cities like London.
Yet, the Florida-based bar is trending like no other with its four cameras.
