While Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 features new animatronic characters, director Emma Tammi revealed to TopMob that the most difficult part of making the movie wasn’t actually creating those characters.
This new horror movie is heavily inspired by the second Five Nights at Freddy’s game. Kellen Goff, Megan Fox, and MatPat provide the voices for the characters Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, and Toy Bonnie, respectively.
The incredibly talented Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is once again responsible for creating the animatronics, which is great news since their realistic designs were a highlight of the first movie. In addition to toy versions of the characters, popular favorites like Mangle and The Puppet (also known as Marionette) will be appearing in this installment.
Before the release of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, TopMob spoke with Tammi about the difficulties they faced while making the movie.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 animatronics created new challenge

The next movie takes the robotic characters into the real world, but the biggest challenge wasn’t making them work outside the studio – it was keeping plot details secret.
“The biggest challenge was keeping everything under wraps,” Tammi told us.
Tammi explained that they worried about people seeing the animatronics – or anything else from the carefully controlled film set – if they were used outside where the weather and public could potentially reveal them.
Showing even a small part of the movie would spoil it for fans and general audiences alike. We wanted to keep everything a surprise so that people would still be eager to see it in theaters when it comes out on December 5th.
The filmmaker said they’re grateful for their passionate fans, but with so much attention – including from drones – it was difficult to keep details hidden during production.
I think we’re in good shape. We have a couple more weeks of work left, but it looks like we’ve successfully kept most of the surprises hidden.
During interviews for the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, Tammi shared that the Foxy animatronic briefly caught fire due to overheating in its mechanical parts. The issue was quickly resolved, and no other problems occurred.
The director said they didn’t experience any major problems while filming the sequel, unlike what happened with the first movie.
Tammi explained that the film featured many more complex animatronic stunts, which presented significant technical challenges for the team.

We had a lot more time to rehearse and work closely with the stunt team. Creating these unusual, fantastic creatures was a major undertaking, but also a truly amazing experience.
This time, the project was much larger in scope, which meant a lot more work. But the results are amazing, and I’m excited for everyone to see what they’ve accomplished.
The movie Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be released in theaters on December 5, 2025. Before then, you can explore the existing Five Nights at Freddy’s books and games, check out which YouTubers appeared in the first film, and discover other movies currently playing in cinemas.
